Minister urges teachers to suspend stir

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, May 29 - Nagaland Minister for School Education & SCERT Yitachu has expressed hope that the All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA) and Nagaland Secondary Schools Field Officers Federation (NSSFOF) will suspend their ongoing agitation.

The ANSTA and NSSFOF have launched agitation demanding bifurcation of Higher Secondary from the Secondary and Elementary Education.

Yitachu reiterated that bifurcating the two cadres will go against the interest of the students and the educational institutions and it will cost the State exchequer dearly.

Participating in a deliberation on the agitation in Kohima, he said, No school should stand alone. Just to bifurcate Class XI and XII is not possible. If you have another formula, bring it to me, he added.

Commissioner and Secretary, School Education, FP Solo appealing to the rest of the teachers to give their extra effort in the midst of agitation said, We must keep our schools running for the sake of the children.

Wonthungo Tsopoe, Additional Director (HoD), School Education said any issue should be discussed thoroughly before taking any action or decision. Bifurcation cannot take place overnight. We need to analyse. The time is not right, Tsopoe stated.
