Minister lauds Khalsa Centre for 75 weeks of langar

GUWAHATI, Oct 8 - �Khalsa Centre North East has been doing great service to humanity, especially through their �Fight Against Hunger� campaign and helping the needy and poor. It is an inspiration for all and a value which all communities should inculcate,� Agriculture Minister Atul Bora said at a function organised to mark 75 weeks of langar set up by the organisation at the Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI), on Wednesday.

Bora said he would soon apprise Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal of the great services rendered to humanity by Khalsa Centre North East and that the government would be happy to work with them in their �Fight Against Hunger� campaign and other activities of serving the needy and poor.

MD of BBCI Dr Amal Ch Kataki said the food served by the Khalsa Centre North East was fully hygienic and tasty and was liked by everyone.

Dr Kataki said they are proud of their association with Khalsa Centre North East as the task of feeding the poor and needy is truly a compassionate and humane work.

Captain PP Singh, chairman Khalsa Centre North East, while welcoming the guests, gave details of activities of the organisation. He informed the gathering that the centre has requested the State government to join hands with them for setting up a community kitchen, so that the fight against hunger can be taken to the maximum number of the needy population.

Captain Singh requested the Minister to help them acquire the required land for setting up the community kitchen so that they can start the project soon.
