Minister holds meet with Nagaon dist admin

NAGAON, March 25 - State Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta held an urgent meeting with top officials of the district administration as well as the police to review the situation over the coronavirus threat at the DC�s conference hall.

During the meeting, the minister also took the feedback from officials of the Food and Civil Supplies department on sufficient stock of essential commodities in the district. Mahanta instructed them to take needful measures for arrangements of sufficient stock of food materials so that people of the district would not face any trouble during the period of the lockdown.

Meanwhile, Mahanta asked the officials of the district administration to alert the police, medical and the other officials in tea estate and other remote areas of the district, especially where many people have arrived from outside the State. Local MLA Rupak Sarma, Deputy Commissioner Jadav Saikia, Superintendent of Police, Gaurav Abhijit (Dilip), officials of district health services were present in the meeting.

Meanwhile during the nationwide lockdown period today, people of the district confined themselves to their homes except a few who went out for emergency services and to buy essential commodities. In the morning when a few locals tried to go out, police restricted them and when some youngsters tried to disobey instructions of the police, they were thrashed and sent back home.
