Minister directs vigil against artificial price rise

GUWAHATI, April 20 - Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Phani Bhushan Choudhury on Monday directed all officials concerned of Kamrup (Metro) district to keep strict vigil on the market of essential commodities to curb any kind of artificial price rise.

Choudhury gave the direction during a meeting with district administration officials, civil supply officials, office-bearers of Chamber of Commerce and other trade bodies.

At the meeting, the minister informed that at present Assam has enough stock of essential commodities including rice, dal, potato, onion, salt, sugar, etc.

Meanwhile, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration in collaboration with Axom Jatiyatabadi Parishad distributed free ration to 150 families at Jalukbari on Monday.
