Militants open fire on police in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, March 27 (IANS): A group of militants opened fire on a police officer's security guards in south Kashmir's Shopian district Wednesday. Nobody was injured in the attack, police said.

"Militants opened fire at the guards of a deputy superintendent of police in Zainapora market of Shopian district today (Wednesday) afternoon," a police official told IANS.

"The guards fired back in retaliation. Nobody was injured in the incident. The area is being searched for the militants," the official said.
