IMPHAL, `June 6 - Army troops apprehended Commander-in-chief of Thadou People Liberation Army (TPLA), an insurgent outfit active in Sadar Hill areas under Senapati district, in an operation carried out on June 3 last, according to a press release.
Infomed of the presence of a senior cadre of TPLA in village Bethel veng, an operation was launched by the troops and the leader of the militant outfit was apprehended.
The insurgent leader identified himself as Nekholen Lhouvum of Senapati district.
�The militant confessed of being involved in various nefarious activities including, kidnappings, incidents of shootings and extortions in Sadar Hill areas,� PRO Defence Wing said in the release. He was in possession of one 9mm pistol (USA Made), one 9mm magazine, five live rounds of 9 mm, one mobile and two Kenwood (Motorola) set which were seized�, it added.
