IMPHAL,March 30-A militant was injured in a retaliatory firing by the personnel of the Assam Rifles in Manipur�s Churachandpur
district late last night,
reports said.
The incident took place when the Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA) cadres who were traveling on a motorcycle opened fired when the personnel of 7 Assam Rifles who are conducting regular frisking and checking along the town road,stopped them near ATM booth of Axis Bank in the Churachandpur town, around 10pm last night.
Immediately the Assam Rifles personnel retaliated injuring the rider of the motorbike on his leg. Without delay, the injured ZRA cadre Lolon (17) son of Thangkhalan of Thanglon has been evacuated to the RIMS Hospitals in Imphal. Later, he was referred to JNIMS Hospital. The Assam Riffle personnel also rounded up three other ZRA cadres Anlin Vaite (29) Pungkan Vaite (18) and Paul Valphei (15) and handed over to the Lamphel Police Staion in Imphal, source added.
