Militant from Manipur outfit arrested in Guwahati

Guwahati, March 25 (IANS): Guwahati police on Saturday arrested a member of the Manipur-based militant outfit Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from Pub Sarania area under Chandmari police station here.

Police also recovered one laptop, two mobile phones and some incriminating documents from the possession of the militant.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Operation) Ranjan Bhuyan told IANS that the cadre has been identified as Rajkumar Iswar Chandra, hailing from Lamlai in Manipur. "Rajkumar had joined the outfit in 2007 and was staying in Guwahati for the last four months in a rented house for some organizational purpose. He also looks after the financial matters of the outfit," Bhuyan said.

Bhuyan said that investigation is on to find out details about Rajkumar's presence in the city and if there are any other members of the outfit taking shelter in Guwahati at this moment.

Earlier on March 20, a member of the Manipur-based militant outfit Peoples Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Prepak) was arrested from Guwahati by the police.
