MORIGAON, Aug 4 - One dreaded terrorist of the newly-formed Tiwa Liberation Army (TLA) of Central Assam, was apprehended by the local people on Sunday night at around 11 pm at Nellie market in Morigaon district, where the militant went on a rampage, firing several rounds in the air from his Italy-made pistol.
The militant, identified as Basanta Das, had come to hand over extortion notes to businessmen of Nellie Bazar and demanded Rs 5 lakh from a local pharmacy. However, the local people caught hold of him in the market. Police and security forces rushed to the spot and arrested him.
The SP, Morigaon, Ainul Hoque said that one Italy-made pistol and several rounds of bullets were recovered from the possession of the militant.
