MGVK Bhanu to join Cong

GUWAHATI, Feb 7 - Former Additional Chief Secretary MGVK Bhanu will join the Congress on February 11.

Sources in the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) said that Bhanu is likely to be fielded by the party from the Tezpur constituency during the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The Tezpur constituency is currently represented by RP Sharma of the BJP and the Congress is looking to wrest the seat this time.

Bhanu, who retired from the government service last year, has since settled down in Tezpur.

Some other prominent personalities from diverse fields are also expected to join the party during the February 11 event to be held at the Rajiv Bhawan here.
