NAGAON, June 17 - The Nagaon unit of All Assam Students� Union (AASU) felicitated rank holders of the HSLC and HS examinations, 2019 at a function held here on Saturday.

Dr Kandarpa Kumar Deka, Vice Chancellor of Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya, while addressing the function appealed to the students to follow the path shown by Sankaradeva and imbibe his ideals. �We need quality education which can guide the society in a proper way, and I wish the students will play a pivotal role in this regard,� he said.

AASU general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi said that growth and progress of a nation depends entirely on the education system.

�The AASU has been consistently demanding a pragmatic education system so that it can benefit the student community and the State as well,� he claimed. A total of 75 students of HSLC and HS exams along with teachers were felicitated.

One arrested: In a swift operation, Itachali Police here arrested a person identified as Bappi Das and recovered ornaments and stolen goods from his possession.

Police later recovered a digital camera, three gold chains, two gold rings, four mobile handsets and other items also from Bappi Das.
