Mera chaoren houba fest observed in Manipur

IMPHAL, Oct 8 � Mera Chaoren Houba, a festival to preserve and promote unity and integrity amongst the communities living in Manipur was celebrated across the State with pomp and gaiety today.

Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, several Ministers, MLAs and others attended the festival at the Sanamahee temple here today.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Ibobi said We should not forget culture and origin. It need to be preserved. �Let us not try to differentiate by religion, said Ibobi.

In a message, State Governor Dr KK Paul asked the people of Manipur to celebrate the festival in its true spirit, upholding the tradition of peaceful co-existence in Manipur�s pluralistic society. �The festival will usher in the bond of unity, integrity and understanding, deepening age-old traditions resulting in peace and prosperity,� he added.
