GUWAHATI, Jan 4 - Sensation prevailed in Maligaon area on Saturday after a mentally challenged woman with serious injuries to her right eye was found abandoned.
Locals alleged that the woman was abducted by miscreants who subsequently caused the injury. However, the claim could not be corroborated. Later, according to locals, the woman was taken to her house by her family members. It could not be immediately ascertained whether the woman was sexually assaulted or not.
However, when contacted, police said that they were unable to locate the woman. �We were informed about the incident but when a police team reach the spot, it could not find the woman anywhere. We are still looking for her,� a police official said. No case was registered till the time of filling of this report.
