Meghalaya's Selsella MLA Clement Marak passes away

By STAFF CORRESPONDENT

SHILLONG, Oct 9: Selsella MLA of the Congress party, Clement Marak passed away on Monday evening at a private hospital in New Delhi after a prolonged illness. He was 58.

Marak was a Minister in the former Congress-led Cabinet and held the Power portfolio. He was known as a soft-spoken person. Marak had earlier defeated Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to win the Selsella seat in 2013 and retained it in 2018.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in his condolence message said: I am deeply shocked to hear of the sudden demise of Clement Marak. In the past, I have had interaction with Marak at official and personal occasions. We had fought elections against each other, but we never had any personal difference. He was like my elder brother.
