Meghalaya X, XII results declared

SHILLONG, May 23 � The results of 10th and 12th (Arts) Board examinations, conducted by the Meghalaya Board of School Education was declared today, in which majority of the students from Garo Hills were unsuccessful in clearing their examinations.

Purba Mazumder of St Mary's Higher Secondary School bagged the first position, followed by Megha Manjari Mohanty St. Xavier's Secondary School,Tura and Surabhi Roy, St. Mary's Higher Secondary School, Shillong in the second and third positions in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate examinations popularly called the Matric exams.

The overall pass percentage of school students was 56.31 per cent. But none of five districts in Garo Hills came even close to this average with North Garo Hills having the highest pass percentage with 40. 33.

Interestingly, there were at least seven students from Garo Hills featuring in the top ten list. Most of the students were from private schools based in Tura, West Garo Hills.

St. Xavier�s Secondary school in Tura bagged the second, joint third and fifth position. Similarly, Aeroville Secondary School, Tura bagged the joint fourth and sixth position while Sherwood School, Tura bagged the ninth and joint tenth position.

In the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Arts examination results, Evamagricia Snaitang of Shillong College bagged the first position.
