By Correspondent

SHILLONG, Sept 20 - The Civil Society Womens Organisation (CSWO) today opposed any move by Uranium Corporation of India Ltd to mine Uranium in Kylleng-Pyndengsohiong-Mawthabah in Meghalaya.

If UCIL pursues to put pressure on mining and discreetly mines, we shall file a criminal case against them for trying to kill the people of the State knowingly, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said.

She said people in the area and in the State should be told and made aware of the dangers of Uranium mining and its waste which would cause diseases like cancer.

This will destroy lives of people of our State for generations to come and CSWO will not allow this destruction. We oppose any Uranium mining in the State and also in tribal areas in the country taking advantage of the tribals, she stated.
