SHILLONG, June 28 � Meghalaya�s Civil Society Women Organisation (CSWO) today condemned the arrest of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi in Guwahati.
�The arrest is an act of cowardice by those in government who forget that they are mere public servants who should be working for the welfare of the people of the State,� This (arrest) shows that they are trying to suppress the voice of the poor common people,� the CSWO said in a statement.
�The people have a right to protest and cannot be suppressed by the rich influential land sharks who get the help of those in government to displace innocent people of the State,� the organisation said, demanding Gogoi�s immediate release. � PTI
