Meghalaya House session begins today

By Correspondent

SHILLONG, March 3 - The Opposition is geared up to take on the Government over the States poor financial health and extravagant spending during the 14-day Budget session of the Meghalaya Assembly beginning Friday.

The Meghalaya Peoples Front (MPF) comprising United Democratic Party (UDP) and National Peoples Party (NPP) are at the forefront to take on the Government.

James Sangma NPPs MLA and spokesperson said today: the financial position of the State is bad at the moment, but the State Government is on an expenditure spree.

Regarding the law and order situation, Sangma said, the Garo Hills situation has worsened. The Chief Minister and Home Minister never visits the affected areas, they just send in security forces, the NPP legislator said.

On the other hand, UDP would take up the issue of dual posts in which seven legislators lost their MDC post, while one is still holding dual post.
