Meghalaya Govt modifies odd-even system

By Staff Correspondent

SHILLONG, June 3 - The Meghalaya Government today exempted certain categories of vehicles from the odd-even system. Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that a review meeting decided that all government vehicles (both State and Central), private vehicles of government employees on duty, vehicles carrying essential commodities and vehicles used for emergency services would be exempted from the odd-even system.

Vehicles with registration numbers ending with an odd digit are allowed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while those ending with an even number are allowed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On Sundays, all private vehicles (both with odd and even numbers) are allowed to ply.

Tynsong announced that trade in goods through the border with Bangladesh in the State would begin on June 8, but the border haats would continue to remain shut.
