Meghalaya deficit teachers to go on strike

By Newmai News

SHILLONG, April 27 The deficit school teachers of Meghalaya are all set to go on yet another strike from tomorrow, president of the Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association ED Nongsiang said.

Nongsiang also said that the Association will no longer sit for talks with the State Government. We are not meeting anyone to discuss any further on the issue. We want nothing less than the order, he said.

The Government had assured us that the order for extending the recommendations of the 4th Pay Commission will be passed by April 19, but we did not receive any order till date, the president said. The Association has termed this delay on the part of the Government as, turning a blind eye to the plight of the deficit school teachers of the State.

Nongsiang also stated that the Government was given enough time to deal with the issue. On April 9 we called off our agitation and gave the Government enough time to fulfill our demands, but it seems the Government is taking things lightly, he said.
