Meghalaya active cases touch 1,902

SHILLONG, Sept 16 - Altogether 159 new COVID-19 cases were reported across Meghalaya and 74 patients recovered in the State during the past 24 hours.

The total active cases have now touched 1,902 and the total recoveries have reached 2,264. As many as 29 people have also succumbed to the virus.

The new cases were reported from East Khasi Hills district (106), East Jaintia Hills (34), Ri-Bhoi (8), South West Garo Hills (2), West Garo Hills (6), West Khasi Hills (2) and East Garo Hills (1).

Meanwhile, the Meghalaya Director of Health Service, Aman War, said that the State has less testing centres and there is also a shortage of microbiologists. �The Government has authorised us to appoint microbiologists so that we can increase the testing,� he added.
