Meeting reviews election arrangements

GUWAHATI, March 12 - A meeting of senior civil and police officials of Kamrup Metro district was held at Rabindra Bhawan here today to review arrangements for the forthcoming Assembly polls.

Speaking on the occasion, Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu laid stress on proper coordination among the civil and police officials and asked all concerned to take up their responsibilities with seriousness.

He also directed that minimum facilities should be provided to voters at the polling stations in the district, including toilets and drinking water.

Dr Angamuthu also directed officials to hold meetings with Nagarik Samitis with a view to increasing voters� participation.

City Police Commissioner Mukesh Agarwala also spoke during the meeting and asked all officials to maintain strict vigil on the election process so that no untoward or violent incidents take place.

Meanwhile, a training programme for officials of the Election Expenditure Monitoring Cell, flying squad and static surveillance teams of Kamrup Metro district was held at the Circuit House here today.
