Meet on Mising Autonomous Council polls

SILAPATHAR, Aug 10 � Under the joint auspices of Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK) of Silapathar, Jonai and Dhemaji district and All Bodo Students� Union (ABSU), Dhemaji district, a �joint meet� was held with 15 organisations of the area on August 8 at Silapathar College regarding Mising Autonomous Council (MAC) polls.

Several organisations of the area like AASU, Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), Koch Rajbongshi Students Union (AKRSU), All Assam Gorkha Students Union (AAGSU), All Rabha Students Union (ARSU), All Bengali Youth Students Federation, All Assma Deori Students� Union, (AADSU), All Assam Sonowal Kachari Students Union All Assam Hajong Students Union, All Garo Students Union, All Assam Tea Tribes Students� Union, Marowari Yuba Mancha, Bhojpuri Students Union, Muslim Youth Development Committee and several other committees of Dhemaji district expressed in the meet that the organisations will continue their support in favour of Mising Autonomous Council polls (MAC) under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.

The meeting passed several resolutions including holding the MAC polls as early as possible, planning for all-round development of all communities of MAC area, withdrawal of the cases against MAC polls, planning for constitution of MAC Area Co-ordination Committee to discuss the matter openly.

The meeting was presided over jointly by the president of Silapathar TMPK Tilak Doley and president of Dhemaji ABSU Horish Goyari. This was stated in a press release issued by the secretary of Silapathar TMPK, Ridip Regon and secretary Dhemaji District ABSU Dipankar Narzary.
