DIMAPUR, Feb 26 - The first meeting of the Tripartite Committee of the Working Journalists and Other Newspaper Employees (Condition of Service) and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1955 was held in Kohima under the chairmanship of Parliamentary Secretary, Labour & Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Nagaland, Mmhonlumo Kikon on Monday.
Labour Commissioner and Member Secretary of the Tripartite Committee L Nungshiyanger Aier gave a briefing on setting up of the Tripartite Committee and the recommendations of the Majithia Wage Board and discussed matters recommended by it. The representatives from the media fraternity agreed that the recommendations of the Board would be beneficial to all concerned but expressed concerns over lack of basic infrastructure, geographical difficulties, non-payment of subsidy etc., and suggested that a special consideration or a different recommendation for the NE states be taken into account.
