GUWAHATI, April 6 � A meeting was held at the DC�s office here to discuss about various aspects related to flood preparedness in the city ahead of the monsoons.
The meeting was chaired by Dr M Angamuthu, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro.
The DC directed the Circle Officers and the Police to prepare reports regarding the measures adopted for flood preparedness within seven days and to submit the reports to the district administration.
Dr Angamuthu also directed the SDRF to keep 10 boats for flood relief operations in the city. He also directed all Circle Officers to keep 50 boats in readiness at each of the revenue circles.
The meeting also decided to train 100 home guards, 100 civil defence personnel and 150 Nagarik Samiti members to deal with rescue and relief operations in case of artificial flood in the city.
Circle Officers were also directed to select sites for setting up relief camps in case of necessity. Senior district administration officials and staff from other departments took part in the meeting.
