Meet on edible insects of NE on March 30

JALUKBARI, March 27 - A daylong symposium on �Potential of edible insects in North East India� is being organised by the Advanced Level Institutional Biotech Hub, Department of Biotechnology, Gauhati University, on March 30.

The main objective of the event is to generate awareness on the use of edible insects as secondary food sources, with focus on adoption, conservation and rearing of such insects.

Insects play an important role in the dietary system of various ethnic groups of northeastern states due to their tremendous nutraceutical and therapeutic properties.

Interested entrepreneurs, research scholars, students and personnel working in the field of entomology are expected to attend the meet, which will be sponsored by the DBT-CTEP, Govt of India.
