Meet of Indian Academy of Cerebral Palsy ends

GUWAHATI, Nov 18 - The 14th annual conference of the Indian Academy of Cerebral Palsy, 2019 held in the city concluded on Sunday.

The three-day event was organised by Swami Vivekananda National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research, Cuttack, Odisha; Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Guwahati and Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.

More than 700 delegates from all over the country and some international representatives took part in the conference. More than 17 scientific papers were presented during the event that was inaugurated by Shakuntala D Gamlin, Secretary, Ministry of social Justice and Empowerment. Different activities of the conference were co-ordinated by M Pavan Kumar and Kundan Kumar.

Gamlin also distributed over 200 aids and appliances like wheelchairs, tricycles, crutches, walking sticks, hearing aids, teaching-learning material kits, smart canes and smart phones among around 500 divyangans present on the occasion.

An awareness programme on care and maintenance of aids and appliances was also held as part of the event.
