Meet lays stress on improvement of Lilabari airport

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, June 24 - A meeting of the Airport Advisory Committee (AAC) was held at Lilabari airport on Friday where matters related to the improvement of the airport and better passenger facilities were discussed. The meeting discussed issues related to making the airport user-friendly, handling congestion at the airport, maintaining cleanliness, providing local transport facilities and infrastructure development.

The meeting also discussed about the installation of ATMs, vending machines and food marts at the terminal of the Lilabari airport. Issues related to the land acquisition and expansion of the Lilabari airport were also discussed in the meeting. The additional 84 acres of land to be acquisitioned by the airport will make Lilabari with required infrastructure for setting up of a pilot and civil aviation training centre. The AAC meeting discussed about connecting Lilabari airport with cheaper flights by Spicejet under Mission Udaan and connecting Itanagar and Majuli with helicopter taxi service in the coming days. The meeting was chaired by Pradan Baruah, MP, Lakhimpur and it was attended by Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Dr Jeevan B, Superintendent of Police Sudhakar Singh, district BJP president Phanidhar Baruah and prominent businessman Rajesh Malpani.
