Meet in memory of Pallav Barkataki

MORIGAON, June 30 - On the occasion of adyashraddha of Pallav Barkataki, a leading youth of Bishnupur area of Morigaon town, a commemorative meeting was held on June 29 at his own residence. Bubumoni Goswami, president, Morigaon Zila Sahitya Sabha presided over the meeting. A book, titled, Chakulu based on the life and works of Late Pallav Borkataki was formally released in the function by noted journalist of Nagaon, Upendra Barkataki.

Speaking on the occasion, Upendra Barkataki said that it was quite unfortunate that a meritorious, promising and studious youth, who was also his nephew, breathed his last due to kidney ailments just at the age of 36. Borkataki appealed to the people of Morigaon to do something for the memory of this meritorious youth.

Addressing the gathering, Ajit Sarma, who edited the book on life and works of Pallav, dwelt at length about the social activities of Late Pallav Barkataki. Speaking on the occasion, Birinchi Kumar Sarma said that to preserve the memory of Pallav, Morigaon Press Club will organise some function. Ganesh Sarma, general secretary, Asom Brahman Samaj, also spoke on the occasion.

Form the family, younger brother of Pallav, Prahlad Barkataki declared that hundreds of valuable books read by his brother will be donated to the Morigaon Sahitya Sabha. Pranab Bhattacharya, secretary, Morigaon Sahitya Sabha offered the vote of thanks.
