GUWAHATI, Nov 23 - In order to bring different political parties on a common platform to address some burning problems in Assam, the Aam Admi Party (AAP) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) organised a joint meeting of political parties at the RG Baruah Auditorium of the Asam Sahitya Sabha office here today.

The objective of the event was to start dialogue regarding the stand of the regional wings of the political parties on various important issues, keeping the greater interest of the State and its people in mind. The programme was conducted by Elvin Barua of AAP and Anupal Das of NCP.

Regarding the Citizenship (Amendment Bill), the meeting called upon the regional heads of the political parties to sit for a discussion on the issue and take a decision which is in the best interest of the people of Assam.

CAB and the base year of citizenship in Assam are the issues where political differences should be kept aside so that the State does not have to suffer in future. Similarly, the issue of Hindu and Muslim Bangladeshis must not be used for religious polarisation in Assam a State where people of all communities and religions have a mutual harmonious relation, Elvin Baruah of AAP mentioned.

Similarly, the financial issues and optimum utilisation of the natural resources of Assam was also discussed in the meeting.
