Medical teams deployed at Badarpur, New Karimganj rly stations

NILAMBAZAR, March 20 - As per the directive of the Central government, the State Health Department has deputed two medical teams at the Badarpur and New Karimganj railway stations to screen passengers coming from outside the State for coronavirus symptoms.

An official of the Health department said that each team comprising two doctors and four paramedics have been deputed at the railway stations since Tuesday. The teams are being supported by magistrate and officials of the Railway department.

As per the directive of the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, a voluntary disclosure form for passengers coming from outside Assam, has been made available at the railway stations so that medical screening could be done immediately.

It may be mentioned here that there are regular outgoing and incoming passenger trains from Karimganj.

The official also informed that an isolation ward has been kept ready at Karimganj Civil Hospital to admit any patient affected with coronavirus.
