Media workshop held in Manipur

IMPHAL, Sept 11 - �Vartalap� � a one-day media workshop of the Regional Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India � was held at Wangkhei Yonglan Leirak in Imphal East district today.

Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh was the chief guest of the function presided over by the Additional DG, PIB, Imphal, SK Malviya.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the media can play an important role in successful implementation of various welfare schemes in the State. Most development schemes, including the flagship programmes, have not been successfully implemented as there is a gap in the dissemination of information, Joykumar said, adding that information about the schemes have to be dispersed through various media as people cannot avail of the benefits of the schemes without knowing about them.

Joykumar expressed the hope that such workshops would help in sensitizing newsmen about their roles in disseminating information to the people. Additional DG, PIB, Malviya said the media can play the role of a catalyst in sharing information about the various initiatives taken by the Government for the welfare of the people

Representatives from various print and electronic media organisations participated in the workshop which mainly focused on Digital India, doubling of farmers� income by 2020 and Health for All/Ayushman Bharat.

Pension Adalat: A Pension Adalat for ex-servicemen of the Assam Rifles will be held at the Mantripukhri Garrison of HQ IGAR (South), Imphal, on September 18. The event will be presided over by Inspector General, Assam Rifles, Major General KP Singh. In addition to pension-related grievances, a number of other facilities such as medical check-up, registration of Aadhaar cards, PAN cards and bank loans, etc., will be available.
