MBoSE X and XII (Arts) results declared

SHILLONG, May 27 - The Class X and XII (Arts) school examination results, conducted by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) was declared today in which over 46,000 students successfully cleared the examinations.

In the class X examination, schools from Tura, Garo Hills and Jowai, Jaintia Hills sandwiched schools from the State capital in the top ten list, but in the class XII exams schools from here stood their ground.

In the class X exam, Neelam Kumari Embee of Rosebud Secondary School, Tura topped the list. She was followed down the list by Darila Akor Kharmawphlang of St Mary�s Higher Secondary School, Shillong and Luigi Dalian Pasweth of Springside English Secondary School, Jowai came third.

However, in the Class XII Arts examination it was a clean sweep for St Anthony�s Higher Secondary School as far as the top four positions were concerned. Diana Kharbithai stood first, followed by Prantik Bhattacharjee, Alethea Phoebe Nongrum, and Josephine Zodimpui Tungdim, all from the same school.

The total pass percentage in the Class X examination was 55.72, however, the pass percentage for the regular candidates was 76.56 per cent. Out of the 21, 892 regular students 16, 761 passed. In the Class XII exam, 20,133 regular students appeared and 17,140 passed with a pass percentage of 85.13. The overall pass percentage consisting of regular and non-regular was 76.28 per cent.

In both the examination, students from Garo Hills fared poorly despite the Government�s promise to help students from the region do well in the exams.

The pass percentage in all six districts of Garo Hills was below 41 per cent. East Garo Hills had the highest pass per cent with 40.34 and South West Garo Hills the lowest with 25. 92 per cent in the Class X exams.

Similarly, in the Class XII exams, the pass percentage of students was poor. South Garo Hills had the lowest pass percentage with 39.36 from all the districts in the State.
