Matribhasa Diwas celebrated

GUWAHATI, Feb 21 - The Royal School of Language in association with the Department of Sociology and Psychology, celebrated �Matribhasa Diwas�, the International Mother Language Day at the Royal Global University (RGU) today.

International Mother Language Day is commemorated to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity around the world. Keeping up with the spirit of multiplicity, the students presented a range of poetry, music, songs, speeches in their mother tongues and a Bihu, dance performance.

The guest of honour, Prof Alak K Buragohain, Chairperson (Academics), Royal Global University, emphasised the need to preserve one�s mother language as it represents one�s culture, heritage and identity.

The programme concluded with RGU Vice Chancellor Prof SP Singh emphasising the importance and significance of this day, especially in a country as diverse as India.
