Master artists to be at work in city event

JALUKBARI, Dec 17 - The Olympia Fine Arts International Exhibition and Symposium (OFAIES) 2016 will be held in Guwahati for the first time, with a week-long programme from January 16 to 22.

Organised by the Olympia Fine Arts Association (OFAA) Finland in association with Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, the event is being supported by the State Department of Cultural Affairs and managed by Mantraa Media & Events. The seven-day event will be simultaneously held in the Kalakshetra premises and the adjoining Shilpgram complex.

The week-long programme will for the first time, bring to the north-eastern region � and more particularly to Guwahati � as many as 55 world renowned master Olympian artists from 33 different countries.

�This is for the first time that so many renowned contemporary artists of the world are congregating in Guwahati. It is a historic event in the arena of art and culture happening not just in Guwahati, but for the entire north-eastern region. We are also looking forward to showcasing Assam and the region as a destination for both creative minds as well as investors, in the process building a positive image of the North East across the globe,� said Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra Society Secretary Narayan Konwar.

While the week-long event will bring together some of the greatest contemporary fine-arts exponents of the world, it will also be a rare opportunity for the art lovers of the region to see for themselves some of the masterpiece works, apart from seeing them at work and interacting with them

Simultaneously, OFAIES will also be a rare opportunity for Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra to show the 55 renowned artists the art and cultural heritage of Assam and the north-eastern region. These well-designed programmes are also intended at spreading general awareness about art as a creative medium and its application as a string contemporary medium through the hands-on workshops interactive sessions.
