GUWAHATI, March 10 - As allegations flew thick and fast over involvement of its officials in a thriving coal syndicate, an under-fire transport department today went for a face-saving exercise, transferring eight DTOs, including the incumbent in Kamrup (Metro) Prasenjit Ghosh.
Ghosh has been moved to Sonitpur, and he will be replaced by Syed Rafiqul Mannan who was in Tinsukia. While Mannan will hold the post of DTO (registration and enforcement), DTO (Dibrugarh) Suranjita Hazarika has been transferred and posted as DTO (licensing) in Kamrup (Metro).
Prasenjit Ghosh and six other officials of the transport department are facing summons from the CID in the coal syndicate case.
Joint Commissioner (Transport) JC Handique has been transferred to BTAD. Bipulananda Pathak, who was in BTAD, has been posted to the commissionerate here.
Sonitpur DTO Mehtab Ali has been transferred to Udalguri. Udalguri DTO Nandeswar Lahkar has been transferred to Jorhat, while Golaghat DTO Rupak Pujari has been transferred to Nagaon.
Morigaon DTO Arun Bora has been transferred to Tinsukia, while Dhemaji DTO Debashish Dutta has been transferred to Morigaon.
Manoj Kumar Choudhury, who has been serving as Enforcement Inspector at Srirampur MV checkgate will be the in-charge DTO of Golaghat.
