Mass signature campaign for local heads in OIL, BCPL

DIBRUGARH, June 1 - A mass signature campaign has been launched today by the Assam Movement Martyrs� Coordination Committee, according to its spokesman, Paragjyoti Baruah. The campaign demands immediate appointment of suitable Assamese persons as chairman and managing director of Oil India Limited (OIL) and managing director of Brahmaputra Cracker & Polymer Limited (BCPL), the gas cracker company.

Baruah said a committee has been entrusted to carry out the signature campaign. Launched yesterday, the committee aims to collect one lakh signatures in support of their demand for Assamese heads in the two corporate houses. Baruah said the campaign is being supported by the Ahom Royal Youth Federation and Khilanjia Banijya Udyog Unnayan Sanstha. They have urged the public to sign the petition for onward transmission to the Prime Minister.
