GUWAHATI, Nov 26 - The Coordination Committee of the Tribal Organisations of Assam, the umbrella organisation of the Scheduled Tribes of the state, today organised a mass rally at Sonapur Mini Stadium, Kamrup (Metro), opposing the Centre�s move to include �advanced and populous� communities into the ST list of Assam, maintaining that such a move would ruin the STs of the entire country.
The participants at the rally demanded an end to the attempts at granting ST status to the OBCs of Assam. They demanded the Centre take the initiative to resolve the problem of the six communities by taking necessary measures within the provisions for the OBC and MOBC.
