GUWAHATI, Sept 24 Alleging that the increasing population of the illegal Bangladeshi migrants in Assam is changing the population patterns of Assam, an organization called Bangladeshi Mukta Assam, Sangrami Mancha have asked the people to join its mass demonstration at the Sonaram School playground, Bharalu on September 30.
In a statement, the organization said that the incidents of violence in the BTAD areas, that spread in other parts of the State was warning sign for the people of Assam to raise voice against the illegal migrants, who are now a threat to existence of the indigenous people of the State.
The forum, convened by Dr Rohini Kumar Baruah, Pranjal Saikia, Ajoy Dutta among others also said that the illegal migrants problem is not just an issue of the BTAD area, but a problem concerning entire India.
Starting from Gaon Panchayat to the political arena of the State, the representatives of these illegal migrants are trying to expand their base in the State. A comparative study of the demographic patterns of the State would reveal that there has been an obvious change in the population pattern, a statement mentioned.
It is a matter of great concern that a major section of the people of Assam is still not conscious about this threat to their existence. If common people would continue to depend on Bangladeshis for their day to day work, it would further aggravate the danger of illegal infiltration, it mentioned.
