By Correspondent

SILCHAR, April 18 - After the twin murders, which jolted the peace-loving people of Silchar last week, another incident of a youth being killed in broad daylight has surfaced in the city. 18-year-old Shymal Das, a mason by profession, was allegedly killed by his neighbour Naredra Das.

The incident happened on Monday at around 2 pm at Vivekananda Road when Shymal and Parimal were working in the house of one Harendra Nath.

In the words of Jahar Das, the father of the deceased, Narendra was their neighbour and to his knowledge Shymal had no hitch with him. Meanwhile, Parimal Das, the only witness to the incident said that Narendra paid a sudden visit to them when they were working and, in a strange manner, hit Shymal with a hammer on his head. Parimal said that Narendra has tried to beat him as well but he managed to escape.

An FIR has been lodged against Narendra who fled from the spot after the incident.

Interestingly, Rajesh Das, Commissioner of Ward number 24 said that Narendra was allegedly involved in anti-social activities and there have been complaints against him from the local residents.
