GUWAHATI, April 29 - A mask outlet was inaugurated by Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Nava Kumar Doley in front of the Assam Secretariat complex today. The masks have been prepared by members of various self-help groups (SHGs) under the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM).
Appreciating the efforts of the SHGs, Doley said that large-scale production of masks by the rural artisans would boost the fight against coronavirus and at the same time augment the income of the artisans.
Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu also inaugurated a mask sale centre of ASRLM on the DC�s office premises today. �Asomi� brand masks manufactured by the self-help groups under ASRLM will be sold at the centre.
Altogether 30 self-help groups of Chandrapur and Dimoria development blocks have manufactured 16,000 masks till date, out of which 9,000 have already been sold and many more were distributed free among the people. ASRLM Mission Director Utpala Saikia and Additional Director Khitish Pegu among others were also present on the occasion.
