SUALKUCHI, Aug 6 - The Saraighat Journalists� Forum obsereved Swahid Divas yesterday at a function held at Dadara HSS.
On the occasion. the people of Dadara, Pacharia and the members of the Forum remembered the great courage and dedication of the lives of 10,000 Assamese soldiers fighting against the Mughals in the battle of Alaboi in 1669.
Jogendra Bharali, senior journalist lit the lamp while Paresh Baishya, president of the forum and Phanishar Das, Assistant Editor, Asomiya Pratidin paid tribute. A commemorative discourse was held with Paresh Baishya in the chair. Some local people, journalists, students and teachers of Dadara HSS attended the meeting. Madhusuhan Medhi anchored the meeting.
The meeting in a resolution asked the government to take steps to observe August 5 as Swahid Divas in all educational institutes of Assam.
