Mansing Rongpi files nomination on BJP ticket

DIPHU, Nov 3 - BJP candidate Dr Mansing Rongpi filed his nomination papers for the Baithalangso Assembly bypoll here on Wednesday at Hamren. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister for Education, Finance and Health and Family Planning Department Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, along with BJP supporters were present during the submission of nomination papers.

Later, a public meeting was organised where hundreds of supporters of Baithalangso Assembly constituency participated.

While addressing the public meeting, Chief Minister assured to ensure all-round development of the people of Baithalangso Assembly constituency in West Karbi Anglong. Chief Minister also urged the people to cast their votes in favour of BJP candidate Dr Mansing Rongpi.

Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma also addressed the public meeting. He alleged that the then Congress Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi was never present during the submission of papers by his party candidates.

Sarma claimed that the BJP will win the ensuing Assembly bypoll from Baithalangso constituency.

It may be mentioned that Dr Mansing Rongpi had managed to defeat his close rival BJP candidate Arun Terang by 62,596 votes during the last Assembly election on a Congress ticket. According to official reports, the total number of voters of Baithalangso Assembly constituency is 1,80,203 where 93,384 are male voters and 86,819 are female voters.
