Manipur�s recovery rate climbs to 79.53%

IMPHAL, Sept 14 - With 149 recoveries reported from six Covid care facilities in the past 24 hours in the state, the recovery rate of Manipur climbed to 79.53 per cent today.

So far, 6,340 persons out of the total 7,971 COVID-19 positive cases have recovered and been discharged from various Covid care centres in the State.

Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and spokesperson of the Health Department here in a press release today said,�The cumulative number of positive cases is 7,971. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 6,340. The number of active cases is 1,585. The recovery rate is 79.53 per cent.�

Stating that 78 persons, including 25 females from the general population and 18 from the Central Armed Police Forces were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases in the past 24 hours in Manipur, the release added that they are from Imphal West, Imphal East, Noney, Thoubal, Jiribam, Kangpokpi, Chandel,Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Churachandpur and Bishnupur, the release added.

Twelve persons out of the general population are returnees from other states while the rest 66 are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to Covid care facilities.

�Today, there is no report of death,� the release said.

�The cumulative number of deaths is 46.� In the past 24 hours,149 persons were discharged from six Covid care facilities. It may be mentioned that the State reported its first death due to COVID-19 on July 29 and first COVID-19 positive case on March 24.

A total of 3,63,015 persons were screened at various entry points of the State today, while 1,93,048 individuals were tested for COVID-19 at various testing centres in the State, official sources said.
