IMPHAL, March 11 � The first detected swine flu patient in Manipur � a 35 year-old housewife from Imphal East district � under treatment at a private hospital here succumbed to the disease on Wednesday morning.
This was officially confirmed by Manipur Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing at a press conference here today. The first swine flu case was reported in the State on March 5 with the housewife testing positive.
One more suspected swine flu case, a 48 year-old housewife expired in the same private hospital today. However, the authorities recognises the first victim as a confirmed patient. The confirmation report of the 48 year-old housewife is yet to arrive from Mumbai laboratory.
Out of four swine flu suspected patients, one has expired, two have been discharged from the hospital while one is said to be under treatment at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital, said Health Director O Ibomcha.
