By The Assam Tribune

Guwahati, Feb 17 (IANS): Police have arrested a member of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) from a rented house at Lachit Nagar area of Guwahati on Thursday.

The cadre, identified as Yumlembam Inao Singh, is the publicity secretary of the KCP, a militant outfit based in Manipur. Police said that some incriminating documents and photographs were recovered from his possession.

Police said that the cadre was arrested during a joint operation carried out by army intelligence, CRPF, Manipur police and Guwahati police.

"We are hopeful of getting some vital information about KCP's involvement with other outfits and its links and investments abroad," said the sources in the police.

Earlier on Feb 1, the operation wing of the Guwahati police, in association with Manipur police, arrested another cadre of the Manipur-based militant outfit People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK).

PREPAK and KCP are the major militant outfits of Manipur.

Police have also recovered two laptops, important documents and Nepalese and Bhutanese currency from the possession of the PREPAK cadre identified as L. Sunil Singh.

"He is a major lead and we hope to gather important inputs from him. We have found visiting cards of many hotels and other places in Nepal and Bhutan. He is a frequent visitor to these places for sure," said an official.
