Manipuri Army officer dies in Leh

IMPHAL, March 11 - Indian Army paid rich tribute to its martyr from Manipur Major L Rambo Singh, who laid down his life while performing operational duties in extreme harsh climate and rough mountainous terrain of eastern Ladakh.

The mortal remains of the martyr were received at Imphal, on Saturday by the grieving family members.

IG of Assam Rifles (South) Maj Gen Virendra Singh, GOC Red Shield Division Maj Gen U Suresh Kumar offered homage to the brave hero of Indian Army with full military honours during a solemn wreath laying ceremony organised at Imphal Airport.

�Major Rambo shall be remembered for his dedication and devotion towards service of the nation,� said an army press release. A resident of Imphal, after his initial training at Officers Academy, Chennai, he was commissioned in September 2009.
