Manipur virus toll reaches 218

IMPHAL, Nov 14 - Five persons � a 45-year-old male from Imphal West, a 65-year-old male from Kakching, a 63-year-old male from Imphal West, a 47-year-old male from Kakching and a 67-year-old male from Imphal West � have expired at the Raj Medicity, Jivan Hospital, JNIMS and RIMS Hospital. These deaths have taken the virus tally of Manipur to 218.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 21,636, while the number of active cases stands at 3,084.

Meanwhile, with 211 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of cured COVID-19 cases in Manipur reached 18,334 today, officials said. The recovery rate in the State currently stands at 84.73 per cent.

The recovered patients are from 11 COVID care facilities, including home isolation, stated Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, spokesperson of the Health Department in a press release.

Out of the total recovered cases, 15,703 are from the general population and the remaining 2,631 are Central security personnel.

Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours, 221 civilians and three Central Armed Police Forces personnel have been confirmed positive for COVID-19, the release added. The new virus cases were confirmed at 22 testing facilities in the State.

The new cases from the general population are from Imphal West (98), Imphal East (25), Thoubal (6), Kangpokpi (3), Bishnupur (15), Kakching (22), Churachandpur (5), Ukhrul (3), Senapati (1), Tamenglong (20) and Chandel (13), it added.

As of Saturday, 4,52,128 people have been screened at various entry points into the State, while 3,84,235 individuals have been tested for the disease, said officials.
