Manipur virus toll nears 300 mark

IMPHAL, Dec 5 - Manipur has reported four more deaths due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, official sources said here today. The cumulative number of virus deaths in the State has now touched 299.

In the last 24 hours, a female from Imphal West district, a male from Churachandpur district and two males from Imphal East district expired at the Raj Medicity and the JNIMS Hospital, the COVID-19 common control room stated in a press release.

Meanwhile, with 210 new recoveries during the last 24 hours, the total number of cured cases in Manipur climbed to 22,655 today, the release added. The recovery rate of the State stands at 87.61 per cent.

The freshly recovered patients were being treated in 15 COVID care facilities, with 138 of them being under home isolation.

Among the recovered cases of COVID-19, 19,742 are from the general population and the remaining are Central security personnel.

In the last 24 hours, 157 persons from the general population and nine personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces were confirmed positive.

The new COVID-19 cases were detected at 14 testing facilities in the State. The new cases from the general population are from Imphal West (47), Imphal East (64), Thoubal (7), Bishnupur (16), Kakching (4), Ukhrul (2), Tamenglong (3), Churachandpur (3), Noney (5), Jiribam (3) and Senapati (3), the release added.

The cumulative number of positive cases in Manipur is 25,857, while the number of active cases stands at 2,903.
