Manipur virus toll crosses 200 mark

IMPHAL, Nov 11 - With the death of two more persons due to COVID-19, the virus death toll of Manipur today reached 202, Health Department officials said.

�In the last 24 hours, two persons � a 35-year-old male from Imphal West and an 87-year-old man from the same district � expired at the Shija Hospitals and the JNIMS Hospital,� stated an official release. The cumulative number of deaths is 202, it added.

Meanwhile, 176 persons (including 78 females) from the general population and four Central Armed Police Forces personnel have been confirmed positive during the same 24-hour period. The new COVID-19 positive cases were confirmed at 24 testing facilities across the State.

In the past 24 hours, 164 persons were discharged from 13 COVID care facilities. The cumulative number of positive cases in the State is 20,957, while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 3,057 and 17,698 respectively, the release added. The recovery rate is 84.44 per cent.

As of Wednesday, 4,47,346 people have been screened at various entry points into the State, while 3,77,804 individuals have been tested for the disease, said officials.
